Hair Removal - Your Questions Answered
Q.
What is the difference Between Laser and Pulsed-Light Treatments?
A.
Pulsed-light systems and lasers are very similar and remove hair in
basically the same way. However, the PLS uses a new
technology that removes hair up to ten times faster and more comfortable
than lasers. Pulsed-light treatments can fit even the busiest person’s
schedule.
Q.
Laser hair removal
treatments frequently use topical anesthetic gels and/or
creams such as lidocaine to the numb the skin for pain. Is
this the same with the Pulsed- Light treatments?
A. No, Pulsed-Light treatments are
fast, effective and comfortable and do not
require topical anesthetic. There is no need for topical
anesthetic gels or creams to be administered before or
during treatments. Due to the pain associated with most
laser hair removal systems, many laser centers recommend the
use of topical numbing anesthetics. These topical
anesthetics such as lidocaine, if administered incorrectly,
can be very dangerous entering the bloodstream causing
unconsciousness and can even result in death.
Q.
What Body Areas Can I Get Treated?
A. Any area, except around
the eyes. The underarms, legs, back, bikini line, face, neck, etc. can all
be treated fast and effectively.
Q.
What Are The Treatments Sessions Like?
A. Quick and easy! After
your initial preparation, your treatment provider will move a wand-like
handpiece over your skin. The handpiece emits a light that disables the
hair follicles. Most people perceive the light as a gentle “snapping”
sensation. Once this is completed, the treatment provider will wipe away
any loose hair from your skin, and you’re ready to go.
Q.
What Should Most People Expect After Treatment?
A.
Most people experience some mild redness and tenderness in the treated
area shortly after treatment. This does not interfere with normal
activities and usually subsides within a day. In some cases, the redness
may last longer, but will still be mild and temporary.
