Better than Laser Hair Removal?
As technologies continue to advance, Laser Hair Removal is now becoming an antiquated technology by many professionals in the field. The new Pulsed-Light Hair Removal system employs interchangeable hand pieces that offer the patented “Photon-Recycling” process providing more efficient treatments.

The new interchangeable hand pieces range in size from a small surface area to much larger surface areas to treat larger areas such as legs, backs and shoulders faster, and more comfortably than the laser devices on the market today.

Most lasers project a high amount of energy out of a very small surface area which can cause increased discomfort and may require topical numbing creams to try and lessen the discomfort. Due to the small size of the surface area of the laser hand piece, the operator is required to pulse the client up to ten times more than the client that is receiving his/her treatments from a pulsed-light provider.

In summary, the new Pulsed-Light devices do not require any topical numbing creams, are said to provide more efficient, more comfortable, and much faster treatments than the lasers.

A Permanent Alternative....

Pulsed-Light-Systems (PLS) work by emitting pulses of intense lamplight into the hair follicles. The light is absorbed by the pigment in the follicles and converted to heat. The heat then loosens the hair and disables the cells responsible for growing new hair.

Traditional waxing and threading treatments, which essentially rip the hair from the skin, can be quite painful. Most people, however, find the PLS to be significantly more comfortable. In addition, since the pulses of light penetrate the skin, you do not need to let your hair grow out before you are treated. With PLS treatments, you can remain virtually hair-free all the time!

Super-Fast Treatments
The Palomar Pulsed-Light-System is 10 times faster than any laser!

Thanks to its advanced, technology, PLS system works several times faster than other light-based hair removal systems. A woman’s legs or a man’s back can be treated in less than thirty minutes, and smaller areas – such as the underarms, upper lip or bikini line - can be treated in even less time!

How Has Unwanted Hair Usually Been Removed?

Shaving
Shaving is a simple procedure…but it’s also messy and time consuming. (And who needs nicks and cuts) Shaving is a very short-lasting solution, one that requires a constant commitment.

Tweezing
Ouch! This quick-fix is not only painful…it’s highly impractical for large areas! And, if you’ve ever tweezed, you know that the hair you pluck will only grow back again.

Depilatories
Another short-lasting solution. This messy procedure requires a significant time commitment and must be repeated about once a week. Caution: If depilatories are left on too long, they can cause severe skin irritation or even chemical burns.

Waxing
Waxing can cover large skin areas and may last for a month or so. Yet this procedure is painful, can irritate sensitive skin, and can only treat hair after it becomes visible above the skin.

Electrolysis
This procedure involves sticking a needle into each hair follicle and applying an electric current. In expert hands, electrolysis can successfully eliminate hair. But because you can treat only one hair follicle at a time, it’s tedious and very time-consuming.

The Most Frequently Asked Questions

Q. What is the difference Between Laser and Pulsed-Light Treatments?

A.  Pulsed-light systems and lasers are very similar and remove hair in basically the same way. However, the PLS uses a new technology that removes hair up to ten times faster and more comfortable than lasers. Pulsed-light treatments can fit even the busiest person’s schedule.

Q. Laser hair removal treatments frequently use topical anesthetic gels and/or creams such as lidocaine to the numb the skin for pain.  Is this the same with the Pulsed- Light treatments?

A.
No, Pulsed-Light treatments are fast, effective and comfortable and do not require topical anesthetic.  There is no need for topical anesthetic gels or creams to be administered before or during treatments. Due to the pain associated with most laser hair removal systems, many laser centers recommend the use of topical numbing anesthetics. These topical anesthetics such as lidocaine, if administered incorrectly, can be very dangerous entering the bloodstream causing unconsciousness and can even result in death.

Q. What Body Areas Can I Get Treated?

A. Any area, except around the eyes. The underarms, legs, back, bikini line, face, neck, etc. can all be treated fast and effectively.

Q. What Are The Treatments Sessions Like?

A. Quick and easy! After your initial preparation, your treatment provider will move a wand-like handpiece over your skin. The handpiece emits a light that disables the hair follicles. Most people perceive the light as a gentle “snapping” sensation. Once this is completed, the treatment provider will wipe away any loose hair from your skin, and you’re ready to go.

Q. What Should Most People Expect After Treatment?

A. Most people experience some mild redness and tenderness in the treated area shortly after treatment. This does not interfere with normal activities and usually subsides within a day. In some cases, the redness may last longer, but will still be mild and temporary.

Photon Recycling

Photon Recycling
During pulsed light treatments, some light gets reflected from the skin.

Palomar’s patented Photon Recycling™ process captures that reflected light and redirects it back into the skin.

Result:
More hair is damaged with each pulse of light.
